“[Evolution is] a theory that’s out there. It’s got some gaps in it. In Texas, we teach both creationism and evolution in our public schools. Because I figure you’re smart enough to figure out which one is right.”

--Texas Gov. Rick Perry, responding to a question from an eighth grader about evolution.

Paris Hilton For President?

August 6, 2008 (Los Angeles) – Today Paris Hilton hit back at Republican presidential candidate John McCain’s campaign ad that described opponent Barack Obama as “the biggest celebrity in the world” and compared him to Ms. Hilton and Britney Spears.

The video, posted on the Web site www.FunnyorDie.com, began with images of the 71-year-old Arizona senator with this voiceover: “He’s the oldest celebrity in the world, like super-old. Old enough to remember when dancing was a sin and beer was served in a bucket. But, is he ready to lead?”

Then the camera cuts to Ms. Hilton sitting on a poolside lounge chair in a leopard-print bathing suit.

“Hey America, I am Paris Hilton and I’m a celebrity too,” she says. “Only I’m not from the olden days and I am not promising change like that other guy. I’m just hot.”

“But then that wrinkly white-haired guy used me in his campaign ad, which I guess means I’m running for president. And I want America to know that I’m like, totally ready to lead.”

While the video was obviously done tongue-in-cheek, Ms. Hilton later said she’s seriously considering forming a party and running for the highest office in the land. “At first I was, like, ‘Oh, I hate all this political crap’ but then I was like, ‘Hey, I like planning parties so why not form a political one?’ and ‘Dude, I haven’t had a weekly TV show since that bitch Nicole turned on me, so why not, like, become president and have a reality show about what it’s like to run the… what is it? Egg-shaped Office?’”
