Rove Calls Obama "Arrogant"

June 26, 2008 - (Washington) Former presidential advisor Karl Rove yesterday described Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama as “coolly arrogant.”

"I will say yes, I do think Barack Obama is arrogant," Rove said Tuesday night on Fox News, where he's a contributor.

"Even if you never met him, you know this guy," Rove said at a Capitol Hill breakfast. "He's the guy at the country club with the beautiful date, holding a martini and a cigarette that stands against the wall and makes snide comments about everyone."

Obama’s communications director Robert Gibbs hit back, saying, “Isn’t that a bit like the pot calling the kettle black? Er, I mean… isn’t that like the toilet calling the bathtub white? Oh, you know what I mean. Although I can’t picture Karl as ever having had a beautiful date.”

Meanwhile, longshot presidential candidate Ralph Nader repeated his accusation of Obama attempting to "talk white" and appealing to "white guilt" in his quest to win the White House. Today he added, “I am the true black candidate. Black sheep, that is.” Then his face contorted into what appeared to be a grimace, but that aides said was an attempted smile.
